Aloo Gobi Sabzi | How to make aloo gobi curry

  

Aloo Gobi is a simple recipe that everyone will like. This recipe has been with me from my childhood.

Aloo translates to potato and gobi translates to cauliflower in English. This spicy aloo gobi stir fry is one of the most famous dish in India. 

This dish can be made in just 15 minutes and can serve upto 4. Lets see how to make aloo gobi sabzi.

Ingredients for Aloo Gobi

  1.  Potatoes - 2 nos. cut in cubes
  2.  Cauliflower - 1 cup
  3.  Oil - 3 to 4 tbsp
  4.  Cumin seeds - 1/2 tbsp
  5.  Red chilly - 2 nos.
  6.  Onion - 1 nos. finely chopped
  7.  Ginger Garlic paste - 3/4 tbsp
  8.  Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
  9.  Chilly powder - 1 tsp
  10.  Coriander powder - 1 1/4 tbsp
  11.  Cumin powder - 1/2 tbsp
  12.  Chopped Green chilly - 2 nos.
  13.  Tomato - 2 nos. medium sized and finely chopped
  14.  Garam Masala - 1/4 tsp
  15.  Chat masala - 1/2 tsp
  16.  Chopped Coriander leaves - 1/2 cup
  17. Salt - to taste
Preparation Method

  • Take a pan / fry pan and heat some oil. You have to shallow fry potato and cauliflower so take accordingly. After the ingredients turn golden colour. Drain them and keep aside.

  • Now to the same pan add 3-4 tbsp oil. To the oil add cumin seeds and 2 red chillies. Let it crackle.

  • After you hear crackling sound add onion and ginger garlic paste to the pan. Saute till you feel the rawness of the paste is gone.

  • When the rawness disappears add turmeric power, chilly powder, coriander powder, cumin powder and salt. Then mix well till the masalas and ingredients are all one.

  • When it is done add green chilly and sauté till the raw smell of masalas are gone.
  • Add tomato now. Saute till tomato becomes soft.

  • Then add the potato cauliflower mix. Mix well and now close the lid and cook for 2 mins. Stir now and then so that it doesn't get burned.
  • After 2 mins you will see everything is cooked well. You can check salt and spices now. Now add chat masala and garam masala. Mix well and add coriander leaves.
  • Your Aloo Gobi Curry is ready. You can have it with chapati/rice. It is very tasty and its deliciousness is guaranteed.
